From
the sleek, assertive styling to its purposeful stance, the Grande
Punto oozes refinement and controlled energy. Measuring over 4m, the
Grande Punto is the biggest car in its class. The range of petrol
engines starts with the incredibly fuel-efficient and perky 65 bhp
1.2. There are 2 additional petrol engines, 3 Diesel engines and 3
trim levels to choose from.
5 Star Safety
With 15,000 hours of calculations and hundreds of component and
crash tests, we’ve made safety a top priority on the Grande Punto.
Active safety features include ABS + EBD, as well as ESP (electronic
stability control) incorporating ASR/MSR/HBA and Hill Holder
(standard on the 1.9 MultiJet engine). Passive safety equipment
includes two dual-stage front airbags, side and window airbags (six
airbags are standard on all versions except Active, which has two),
an energy-absorbing body shell and safety belts with pre-tensioners
and load limiters. We’ve also included a safety belt attachment
sensor and a de-activation option on the front passenger airbag.
Therefore, it’s no surprise that the Grande Punto has been awarded
with the 5-star Euro NCAP certificate – the highest level of
recognition for car safety.
Power
Appearances can be deceptive, but not in this case. The Grande Punto
is every bit as thrilling to drive as its looks promise. The range
of petrol engines starts with the incredibly fuel-efficient and
perky 65 bhp 1.2. Or choose the extra zip of the new 77 bhp 1.4,
with variable turbulence combustion chamber. This unique system
enables the engine to re-use a proportion of the exhaust gases,
giving greater power and lower fuel consumption. Topping the petrol
range is the nippy 1.4 16v unit which produces 95bhp.
To go with Fiat’s renowned 75 bhp 1.3 MultiJet diesel engine, we’ve
added the option of the brand new 1.3 MultiJet 16v, with variable
geometry turbine. This sparkling new power plant generates 90 bhp to
combine exceptional performance with very low fuel consumption. And
for those who only begin to enjoy themselves at 100 bhp, the Grande
Punto Eleganza offers the 120bhp 1.9 MultiJet which comes with a
6-speed gearbox and variable geometry turbocharger with intercooler.
Space
It’s not just the length of the Grande Punto (over 4m) that makes it
the biggest car in its class. The height-adjustable front seat,
excellent access and superb visibility all contribute to the car
offering the best interior space in its class too. Excellent
ergonomic controls make driving a constant pleasure, while back-seat
passengers will always have plenty of room to get comfortable, even
with two six-footers up front. Add 275 litres of boot space, and you
have a truly exceptional package. |
